The theme is citizenship and involves things like looking after our planet and environment as well as our responsibilities to look after ourselves and others. This is a fun game for children at KS1. Here, the school staff get up to silly things and the idea is to work out who does what, where, when, why and how. Children choose a card from each of the 6 sets: Who? e.g. Miss Cookwell and Miss Bookworm Where? e.g., the Kitchen or the Nursery What? e.g. changed the clock to home time or put paint on the walls and floors Why? e.g. it was an accident or I thought it would be funny When? e.g. during afternoon play or before the teachers meeting How? e.g. the PE teacher helped or I wore a disguise These are colour coded. There is a base board where children can put or paste their 6 cards onto. Next, they tell the story in their own words and / or write it out and share with class. Children work well in pairs for this game. There are lots of combinations, so the game can be played over again with different outcomes. There is a colour card for each set that children could use to sort or make collections. An example board is included where Miss Bookworm, the librarian went to the Head’s Office and changed the clock to home time. She did this because she thought it would be funny. The PE teacher helped Miss Bookwork and this was during afternoon play! Links to literacy, speaking and listening, problem solving and writing.

There are 35 picture cards which can be cut up and laminated(for reuse) or pages can be used as they are with 4 cards to a page. There is a suggested answer sheet at the end, that children or the teacher, can use to mark off answers. (Some pictures could have an equally feasible alternate catch phrase or word). As a follow up, children could make up their own pictures based on familiar sayings or those on a theme such as football or animals. Children can research any sayings they are not familiar with.
